Bareilly Temple Incident: Police Investigation Reveals Bird Dropped Meat Remnants
Brief tension gripped Naroli town in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh, after meat remnants were discovered inside a temple, but police later clarified that the pieces had been dropped by a bird, effectively ruling out any deliberate or malicious act. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, was reported from a nearly 50-year-old Shiv temple located in Teliwala Mohalla under the Baniyatheer police station limits in Chandausi tehsil.
Discovery and Initial Response
According to police reports, the meat remnants were found near a water tap and inside the temple premises around 8 am, prompting immediate alerts to law enforcement. A police team from the Naroli outpost swiftly responded to the scene, initiating a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Investigation and Community Reaction
The police team meticulously examined CCTV footage from cameras installed across the Naroli Nagar Panchayat area and conducted interviews with local residents to gather information. Meanwhile, activists from the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal arrived at the spot, raising slogans and alleging a conspiracy. They submitted a written complaint urging authorities to conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter.
Police Conclusion and Resolution
After nearly five hours of diligent investigation, police concluded around 5 pm that a bird flying over the temple had inadvertently dropped the meat inside the premises. This finding was supported by clear evidence from CCTV footage, which showed the bird in the act. Baniyatheer SHO Manoj Kumar Verma emphasized that there was no evidence of any intentional wrongdoing, and the situation subsequently returned to normal.
Police officials confirmed that the area remains peaceful, and no case has been registered in connection with the incident. The swift resolution helped prevent any escalation of communal tensions, underscoring the importance of evidence-based policing in sensitive situations.
