Bareilly college student set on fire, two accused on run

A shocking incident of violence unfolded outside a prominent college in Bareilly on Thursday afternoon, leaving a student with serious burn injuries. The attack has sent ripples of tension through the campus and prompted a significant police response.

Attack at College Gate Moments After Exam

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Farhad Ali, a BCom student, had just completed an examination at Hindu College. As he stepped out of the examination centre and reached the college gate, he was allegedly targeted by two individuals from the same institution.

Police named the accused as Aarush Singh (21), a BA third-semester student, and Deepak Kumar (20). According to initial reports, the duo allegedly hurled a flammable substance at Farhad, which immediately ignited, causing severe burns on his thighs.

Immediate Response and Police Investigation

A group of alert students and passers-by witnessed the attack and rushed to help. They played a crucial role in dousing the flames before the victim could suffer more extensive injuries. He was subsequently rushed for medical treatment.

Senior police officials confirmed that Farhad sustained approximately 8% burn injuries and that his condition is currently reported as stable. Moradabad City SP Kumar Ranvijay Singh provided details on the suspected weapon, stating, "It appears the attackers used a petrol-filled bottle, possibly a petrol bomb."

A critical aspect of the case that remains unclear is the motive behind the attack. The two accused students are currently on the run, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend them. Investigators are working to piece together the events leading up to the violent episode and establish a clear reason for the assault.

The incident has raised serious concerns about safety in educational institutions and highlights the urgent need for a thorough probe to deliver justice.
