Bank Manager Fatally Shot by Security Guard in Ghaziabad Branch
In a shocking incident that unfolded on Monday afternoon, a bank manager was shot dead by a security guard inside a Punjab & Sind Bank branch located in Loni Border, Ghaziabad. The assailant, allegedly enraged over unresolved leave and salary issues, carried out the execution-style killing in full view of terrified staff and customers.
Details of the Tragic Shooting
The victim, identified as Abhishek Kumar (36), a resident of Patna, was seated in his cabin at the Balram Nagar Colony branch when the attack occurred around 1:30 PM. According to police reports, the security guard, Ravindra Hudda (45), returned to the bank with his licensed firearm after a heated telephonic exchange with the manager and opened fire.
Kumar was immediately rushed to GTB Hospital in Delhi but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His family was promptly informed of the tragic loss.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Murder
Surendra Nath Tiwari, DCP (Rural), provided a detailed account of the incident. Kumar had been serving as the branch manager since August 2025. Hudda, a Baghpat resident and former Army personnel who retired in 2018, had been employed as a security guard at the bank for the past three months.
The confrontation began when Hudda failed to report for duty on Monday, prompting Kumar to make repeated phone calls. The conversation quickly escalated into a heated argument. Around 1:15 PM, Hudda arrived at the bank on a motorcycle accompanied by an associate, Shishpal Dheemer, and proceeded directly to the manager's cabin.
"After another argument inside the cabin, Hudda declared he no longer wished to work. He then exited to another room in the building, retrieved his licensed gun, returned to the cabin, and shot the manager while he was seated in his chair," DCP Tiwari stated.
Witnesses and Aftermath
More than ten customers and seven bank employees were present during the shooting, but none intervened due to the sudden and violent nature of the attack. CCTV footage recovered from the premises shows Hudda, wearing a yellow T-shirt, calmly leaving the branch with the weapon after the shooting. His associate was observed sitting outside the manager's cabin during the incident.
Bank staff informed investigators that Hudda frequently skipped duty without authorization and exhibited aggressive behavior when questioned. During interrogation, Hudda expressed frustration with Kumar's management style, alleging that the manager would scold him for taking leave and deduct Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 from his monthly salary of Rs 12,000.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Approximately three hours after the murder, Hudda was apprehended while drinking outside a liquor store in Loni Border. "He purchased liquor after the shooting and began consuming it. The firearm and motorcycle used in the crime have been seized," confirmed a senior police officer.
An FIR has been registered against Hudda under BNS Section 103 (murder). The investigation is ongoing as authorities piece together the complete timeline and motives behind this brutal workplace violence incident.
