Police in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat district have arrested a man following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media. The footage allegedly showed the accused subjecting a dog to severe cruelty, including forcing the animal to consume an intoxicating substance from a liquor bottle.

Accused Identified and Arrested

The accused has been identified as Jitendra, alias Ballam, a resident of Kirthal village. The arrest was made on Sunday from the Ramala police station area. Law enforcement officials acted swiftly after the video came to their notice, prompting an immediate inquiry.

The Baghpat social media cell and the Ramala police station took cognisance of the incident once the video began circulating online. Their prompt investigation led to the location and detention of the accused.

Legal Action Initiated

A formal case has been registered against Jitendra under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Police authorities have confirmed that further legal proceedings are currently underway.
