Army Jawan Arrested for Maid's Murder in Hisar Cantonment
The police have arrested an Army jawan in connection with the alleged murder of a 37-year-old maid in the Hisar cantonment area. The accused, identified as Baleshwar Kunjoor, hails from Surguja district in Chhattisgarh and was taken into custody from the cantonment premises.
Discovery of the Victim's Body
The victim, Santosh, a resident of Chaudhry Colony near the cantonment, had been working as a maid in the staff quarters. She went missing on March 11, prompting her husband to file a missing person report when she failed to return home. Her body was later found in a forest area within the cantonment, leading to a murder case being registered.
The body was sent for a post-mortem examination, which revealed injury marks, including a smashed head and face. Investigation uncovered that the accused allegedly tied her hands and buried her near a park.
Police Investigation and Arrest
A joint search operation was launched by the Army police and local authorities. After searching the staff quarters and tracking mobile numbers, police teams reportedly found a clue from a torn T-shirt. This led to the arrest of Baleshwar Kunjoor, who was interrogated and subsequently confessed to the crime.
He identified the location where he had buried the body. Based on evidence of murder, the police added murder charges to the case. The accused was produced in court, which granted a two-day police remand for further investigation.
Background of the Victim
Santosh had been working in the cantonment area for the past four to five years. She is survived by her husband and two children. Her family expressed shock and grief over the incident, highlighting her long-term employment in the locality.
