CHENNAI: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has condemned the DMK government for allowing law and order to deteriorate to such an extent that even elderly citizens are no longer safe in their own homes. Citing the brutal murder of an elderly woman at her residence in Salaipatti village near Karur, he expressed shock that the assailants tied her limbs before killing her and fleeing with her gold earrings and nose stud.
Anbumani's Strong Reaction
In a post on X, Anbumani said, "It is shocking that unidentified people have murdered the elderly woman living alone after tying her limbs, just to rob her of small pieces of jewellery. This heartless act shows the collapse of the state's security apparatus." He urged the police to expedite the investigation and bring the culprits to justice immediately.
Call for Action
He called upon the caretaker administration and the police department to ensure that, at least in the remaining week of the DMK's term, the safety and peace of citizens are guaranteed. "Even as this government nears its end, people are unable to live in peace," Anbumani said. "While the public has already delivered its verdict in the recently concluded election to punish this administration, murders, robberies, and drug-related atrocities continue unabated."
Investigation Underway
Police are currently scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning known offenders in the locality to track down the killers. The incident has sparked outrage and raised questions about the effectiveness of the state's law enforcement machinery.
