Deadly Head-On Collision in Amravati Claims Five Lives, Including Teenager
A devastating road accident in Amravati district on Wednesday morning resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including a 13-year-old schoolgirl, and left three others with serious injuries. The tragedy unfolded when a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) Shiva-e bus collided head-on with an autorickshaw on the Warud-Rajura road at approximately 10:45 AM.
Immediate Aftermath and Casualty Details
According to official reports from the Warud police, the MSRTC bus was traveling from Warud towards Wardha via Talegaon when it violently rammed into the autorickshaw. The impact was so severe that the autorickshaw was completely mangled, leading to four fatalities at the scene itself.
The victims who died on the spot include:
- Kailash Ghanshyam Nagdive, 42, the autorickshaw driver
- Chintaman Nagdive, 60, a passenger
- Mahi Mangulkar, 13, a schoolgirl passenger
- Haribhau Shinde, 83, another passenger
In a tragic turn of events, Rajkumar Bhalavi, aged 55, who sustained grievous injuries in the crash, was rushed to Nagpur for emergency medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries during treatment, bringing the total death toll to five.
Injured Victims and Police Response
The collision also left three individuals with serious injuries. Pratibha Lad and Mohini Bhore were among those injured and were immediately transported to Nagpur for advanced medical care, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Local residents who heard the massive impact rushed to the accident site and promptly informed the police authorities. Following the incident, the Warud police registered a formal complaint based on the statement of Suraj alias Chakradhar Janardan Nagdive.
An offence has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the bus driver, identified as Nikhil Rambhau Warthi, aged 26, from Ashti tehsil in Wardha district. The investigation into the exact cause of the collision is currently underway, with authorities examining factors such as road conditions, vehicle speed, and driver negligence.
