Police Officials Fondly Recall Ajit Pawar's Dedication to Law and Order in Pune

Senior police officials who worked closely with the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar have shared heartfelt recollections of his unwavering commitment to strengthening law and order mechanisms in Pune and its surrounding regions. As the Guardian Minister of Pune, Pawar demonstrated a profound interest in policing matters, consistently pushing for infrastructural enhancements and policy improvements that left a lasting impact on the police machinery.

Meticulous Leadership and Thorough Preparation

An officer who previously served as Superintendent of Police for both Pune Rural and Pune City districts highlighted Pawar's disciplined approach to governance. "Meetings chaired by Mr. Pawar always demanded thorough preparation from our side," the officer remarked. "His strict demeanor, exceptional punctuality, and deep understanding of the subject matter ensured that we, too, arrived fully prepared and focused on delivering results." This culture of accountability and preparedness became a hallmark of Pawar's interactions with law enforcement agencies.

Infrastructure Boost for Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Police

According to multiple officials, Pawar played a pivotal role in advancing plans for new administrative buildings for both the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerates. A senior officer from Pune City Police elaborated, "Pune city's law and order, traffic management, and overall policing strategies were always of keen interest to the late Deputy Chief Minister. When the Pune City Traffic Police drafted a comprehensive plan involving scientific, low-cost engineering solutions, infrastructure upgrades, human resource allocations, and policy reforms for better traffic management, he took an active interest."

The officer added that during multiple presentations, Pawar asked pertinent questions and offered valuable suggestions, showcasing his hands-on involvement. "He consistently posed challenging queries and was always well-versed in the background details of any subject. As a leader who preferred early starts, he kept the entire administrative system alert and responsive. His command over various administrative departments was particularly evident during joint meetings of officers in Pune," the official noted.

Addressing Growth Challenges in Pimpri Chinchwad

A senior officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate emphasized Pawar's role in addressing the infrastructural needs of a rapidly growing urban area. "The new building for the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate is currently in the pipeline. For a relatively young commissionerate established in 2018, infrastructure has always been a critical challenge," the officer explained.

"Late Ajit Pawar ensured that our demands for additional force strength, new police stations, and buildings were consistently met. Between 2021 and 2025, as many as ten new police stations were added in the region. Furthermore, new posts for top brass and constabulary staff were sanctioned to cater to the needs of an expanding city. Pawar remained a driving force behind all these initiatives, demonstrating his commitment to robust law enforcement infrastructure," the officer concluded.

These recollections from police officials paint a vivid picture of a leader deeply invested in the practical aspects of governance, particularly in enhancing police capabilities and infrastructure to ensure public safety and order in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
