The Bar Council of India (BCI) has officially declared the results for the All India Bar Examination-XX (AIBE-XX). The crucial examination, which serves as the gateway to legal practice in India, was conducted on November 30, 2025, across a vast network of 399 centres in 56 cities nationwide.
Key Statistics and Pass Percentage
A massive total of 2,51,968 candidates appeared for AIBE 20. The council announced an overall pass percentage of 69.21 per cent. This translates to 1,74,386 successful candidates who have now cleared the bar to practice law, while 77,579 aspirants could not clear the examination this cycle.
The candidate pool demonstrated significant diversity. Out of the total examinees, 1,65,613 were male, 86,336 were female, and 19 were transgender candidates. The BCI stated that the examination was conducted smoothly, adhering to all prescribed norms with a firm commitment to fairness and transparency.
Gender-Wise and Category-Wise Performance Breakdown
Delving deeper into the results, the gender-wise outcome shows that 1,13,063 male candidates and 61,310 female candidates qualified. Furthermore, 13 transgender candidates successfully cleared the exam.
In terms of social categories, the highest number of qualifiers came from the unreserved (General) category. They were followed by successful candidates from the Other Backward Class (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories, respectively.
High-Level Supervision and Answer Key Revisions
The examination process was overseen by a high-powered Monitoring Committee for the All India Bar Examination. This committee was chaired by Justice Hima Kohli, former judge of the Supreme Court of India. Its members included eminent legal academicians like Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor of Dharmashastra National Law University, and Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeevi Shanthakumar, Director of Gujarat National Law University.
A rigorous post-exam review process was undertaken. After the test, provisional answer keys were published, and objections were invited from candidates. All objections were meticulously examined by a Subject Oversight Committee. Following detailed scrutiny, the Monitoring Committee took the significant step of withdrawing five questions that were found to be incorrect. For two other questions, two answers were accepted as correct, and full marks were awarded for them. Consequently, the final result was calculated out of a total of 95 marks instead of the original 100.
