The Bar Council of India (BCI) has officially declared the results for the All India Bar Examination XX (AIBE-XX). The crucial examination, which serves as a gateway for law graduates to practice in India, was conducted on November 30, 2025. While the direct link to check results is pending activation on the official portal, the council has released comprehensive data on the outcome.
Key Statistics and Pass Percentage
This edition of the national-level exam witnessed massive participation, with a total of 2,51,968 candidates appearing across 399 centres in 56 cities. The overall pass percentage for AIBE 20 stands at 69.21 per cent. Out of the total aspirants, 1,74,386 candidates have successfully qualified. Conversely, 77,579 candidates could not clear the examination this time.
The candidate pool reflected a diverse demographic. Gender-wise data reveals that 1,65,613 male candidates, 86,336 female candidates, and 19 transgender candidates took the test. Among them, 1,13,063 male and 61,310 female candidates qualified. Thirteen transgender candidates also cleared the exam successfully.
In terms of category-wise performance, the highest number of qualifiers came from the unreserved category. This was followed by candidates from the Other Backward Class (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.
High-Level Supervision and Fair Process
The Bar Council emphasized that the examination was conducted smoothly and in an orderly manner, adhering to all prescribed norms. The process was marked by fairness and transparency at every stage.
The entire exercise was carried out under the direct supervision of the high-powered Monitoring Committee for the All India Bar Examination. The committee was chaired by Justice Hima Kohli, former judge of the Supreme Court of India. Key members included Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor of Dharmashastra National Law University, and Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeevi Shanthakumar, Director of Gujarat National Law University. Several senior legal academicians also participated as special invitees to ensure robust oversight.
Answer Key Review and Marking Adjustments
Following the examination, a meticulous review process was undertaken. The BCI first uploaded provisional answer keys and invited objections from candidates. All received objections were then scrutinized by the Subject Oversight Committee.
Based on this detailed analysis, the Monitoring Committee took significant corrective measures. Five questions were found to be incorrect and were subsequently withdrawn from evaluation. For two other questions, two answers were accepted as correct, and full marks were awarded to candidates for either option. Consequently, the final AIBE 20 result was calculated out of a total of 95 marks instead of the original 100, ensuring no candidate was disadvantaged.
