Madurai AIADMK Functionary Murder: Seven Arrested Including Wife and Minors
In a shocking development in Madurai, police have apprehended seven individuals in connection with the murder of an AIADMK functionary. The deceased, identified as Dhanasekarapandian, was brutally attacked and killed by a five-member gang early on Friday morning.
Details of the Arrests and Investigation
The arrested individuals include Kaviya, 28, who is the wife of the victim; Pechimuthu, 31; Balaji, 22; Chandru, 20; Mathavan, 22; and two minors aged 16 and 17. According to police reports, Mathavan and the two minors were secured on the very day of the murder. Their statements during interrogation led to the subsequent apprehension of the other accused persons.
The investigation uncovered a disturbing motive behind the crime. Police revealed that Kaviya and Pechimuthu were involved in an extramarital affair. The duo allegedly conspired to murder Dhanasekarapandian, with Pechimuthu meticulously studying his movements for nearly ten days prior to the attack.
Execution of the Murder Plot
On Friday around 5:30 AM, the gang employed by Pechimuthu intercepted Dhanasekarapandian on the Samanatham-Nedungulam Main Road. They launched a violent assault, attacking him with a knife which resulted in his death. The Silaiman police station handled the case and made the arrests following a thorough investigation.
Legal Proceedings and Custody
The five adult accused have been remanded in judicial custody and are currently lodged at Madurai Central Prison. Meanwhile, the two minors involved in the crime have been sent to an observation home in Madurai for further legal proceedings.
