A 33-year-old shopkeeper operating a dairy business in Ahmedabad's Bhuyangdev area within Ghatlodia was subjected to a violent physical assault, according to local police authorities. The attack stemmed from an unresolved shop-related dispute that had been simmering for approximately six months.
Details of the Violent Incident
The altercation occurred on April 10 at approximately 4:00 PM at the victim's dairy shop, situated near the prominent Bhuyangdev Crossroads in the city. At the time of the incident, the shopkeeper was present at his premises alongside a co-worker.
According to the formal complaint filed by the victim, the confrontation began when two individuals entered his shop, while two other unidentified associates remained stationed outside the establishment. The core of the conflict was linked to a quarrel concerning another shop located in the Ghatlodia area, a disagreement that reportedly had persisted over the preceding half-year.
Sequence of the Assault
The complainant stated that the accused persons entered his shop and immediately began verbally abusing him, allegedly over his decision to frequent a different shop. When the shopkeeper objected to this abusive language, the duo inside the shop allegedly initiated a physical assault.
"They attacked me together. One of them twisted my arm violently, and another kicked me repeatedly," the victim recounted in his statement to the police. He further alleged that the two men waiting outside also joined in the verbal abuse directed at him.
The situation escalated until the victim raised a loud alarm, prompting nearby residents and passersby to gather at the scene. Upon seeing the crowd assemble, the accused individuals fled from the location.
Medical Aftermath and Police Action
Emergency services were promptly called to the site. The injured shopkeeper was transported to Sola Civil Hospital for urgent medical attention. During his examination and treatment, doctors diagnosed a significant injury: a fracture was detected close to his left elbow.
After receiving necessary medical care and being discharged from the hospital, the victim, accompanied by his wife, formally approached the police on Saturday to lodge an official complaint regarding the attack. The case is now under investigation as authorities work to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the assault.
