Ahmedabad Road Rage Incident Leads to FIR After Assault Allegations

In a disturbing case of road rage, the Anandnagar police in Ahmedabad have registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Saturday, following an incident where a woman and her male companion are accused of assaulting multiple individuals after a minor vehicular collision. The altercation occurred near Prahladnagar on Friday afternoon, sparking concerns over public safety and traffic disputes in the city.

Details of the Incident

According to the complaint filed by Upendrakumar Yadav, a 23-year-old driver residing in Vejalpur, the event unfolded around 1:30 PM near Shambhu Coffee Bar at the Prahladnagar Garden Crossroads. Yadav was driving his employer Sanyam Shah's four-wheeler, transporting Shah's wife, Nidhi Shah, to a derasar in Prahladnagar. As he slowed down to make a left turn, a car driven by a woman suddenly took a right turn, resulting in the vehicles brushing against each other.

Yadav stated that he honked to seek way, but the woman allegedly stopped her car in front of his vehicle, blocking traffic, and stepped out along with a male companion. The duo began abusing him verbally. When Yadav objected, citing the presence of his employer's wife in the car, the situation escalated rapidly.

Escalation and Assault

The woman reportedly opened the rear door of the vehicle, abused Nidhi Shah, and slapped her twice. Yadav claimed he was also slapped during the altercation. Sanyam Shah, who was nearby, rushed to the spot after receiving a call about the incident. However, the confrontation intensified, with the accused allegedly abusing Shah. The male companion held Shah while the woman slapped him, according to the complaint.

As traffic congestion increased at the location, the accused fled the scene in their car, leaving behind a chaotic situation. The incident has highlighted the volatile nature of road rage and its potential to lead to physical violence.

Police Investigation Underway

An officer from the Anandnagar police confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on Yadav's complaint. The police are currently verifying the vehicle details and examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the accused individuals. This proactive approach aims to ensure justice is served and to deter similar incidents in the future.

The case underscores the importance of maintaining calm during traffic disputes and the legal repercussions of aggressive behavior on roads. Authorities urge citizens to report such incidents promptly to prevent escalation and ensure public safety.
