Ahmedabad Police Impose Drone Ban for Amit Shah's Visit
Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner G S Malik took decisive action on Monday. He issued a formal notification declaring Ahmedabad a "no drone fly zone" from January 12 to 15. This move comes directly in view of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's scheduled four-day visit to the city.
Security Concerns Prompt Strict Measures
The police notification clearly outlines the reasoning behind this stringent order. Authorities stated they could not rule out the possibility of anti-national elements, terrorists, or miscreants attempting to misuse unmanned aerial vehicles. The concern is that these devices or small aircraft could be used to harm public safety and severely disturb law and order during the high-profile visit.
To proactively prevent any such threat, comprehensive restrictions have been imposed across the entire city. Commissioner Malik officially prohibited the flying or operation of all types of drones and aerial devices. This ban is effective within the limits of the Ahmedabad City Police Commissionerate for the specified four-day period.
Comprehensive List of Banned Aerial Activities
The prohibition covers a wide range of equipment and activities to ensure maximum security. The official ban includes:
- Remotely operated drones and quadcopters
- Powered aircraft and microlight aircraft
- Hang gliders and paragliders
- Paramotors and hot air balloons
- Para-jumping activities
Police officials emphasized that the primary aim of these restrictions is to ensure the absolute safety of the visiting dignitary, Union Home Minister Amit Shah. An equally important goal is protecting the general public from any potential security risks. The city police are taking no chances with security protocols during this significant political visit.
