The incident has sparked a police investigation into charges of abduction, assault, and criminal intimidation.
Details of the Complaint
The complainant, identified as Golu Shakya, a resident of Nikol who works in a private firm, stated that he married Sonam Kushwaha in December 2025. According to Shakya, the marriage was conducted without the knowledge of Sonam's family, leading to subsequent tensions.
On December 24, around 12:30 PM, Shakya was at work when his wife's father, Lakhan Kushwaha, along with Mansingh Kushwaha, Brijesh Kushwaha, and Abhishek, arrived at his home. Shakya's sister-in-law and other family members were present at the time.
The accused individuals allegedly entered the house, engaged in a heated argument with the family members, and physically assaulted them. One of the intruders was reportedly carrying a knife. Shakya claims that the group forcibly took his wife away, despite her objections and unwillingness to leave with them.
Aftermath and Police Action
Upon receiving a call from his distressed family, Shakya immediately returned home. He later received a message from his wife indicating that her family was planning to relocate her to another location. In response, Shakya traveled to Madhya Pradesh, contacted local police authorities, and managed to bring his wife back after recording official statements.
