Ahmedabad Fabricator's Home Targeted in Daylight Burglary, Valuables Worth Rs 97,000 Looted

In a distressing incident in Ahmedabad, a 34-year-old fabricator from Vastrapur has filed a police complaint after unidentified burglars broke into his apartment and made off with cash and jewellery valued at approximately Rs 97,000. The theft occurred while the family was attending a family function, highlighting a brazen daytime crime in the city.

Details of the Burglary and Victim's Account

Priyank Patel, a resident of Suvas Apartment located near JG International School on Gulab Tower Road, operates an aluminium fabrication business from his home. On February 15, around 2:30 PM, Patel, along with his father, mother, and younger brother, securely locked their flat and departed for a family gathering in Bhadaj.

Upon returning around 5:00 PM, Priyank and his brother were shocked to discover the iron grill lock of the main door broken and the wooden door left slightly open. Inside the apartment, they found signs of intrusion: the cupboard locker in the bedroom was still locked, but the key had been left inserted. When they opened it, the contents were thoroughly ransacked, indicating a swift and targeted theft.

Stolen Items and Police Response

The burglars stole a significant haul of valuables, including:

  • Rs 7,000 in cash
  • A 10-gram gold chain worth Rs 30,000
  • Two pairs of gold earrings weighing around 5 grams, valued at Rs 15,000
  • Two gold rings weighing approximately 10 grams, worth Rs 15,000
  • A silver ornament valued at Rs 20,000
  • Four silver coins worth Rs 5,000
  • Imitation jewellery worth Rs 5,000

Immediately after discovering the theft, the family alerted the police through the control room. A team swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate. A formal case has been registered at the Vastrapur police station, and authorities are currently examining evidence to identify the perpetrators.

This incident underscores growing concerns about home security in urban areas, especially during daytime hours when residents may be away for short periods. Police are urging citizens to enhance safety measures and remain vigilant.
