In a shocking development, the investigation into the tragic deaths of two young sisters in Ahmedabad has shifted from an initial theory of food poisoning to a potential murder case, with police focusing on the parents' alleged desire for a male child. The victims, identified as Raha Prajapati, aged three months, and Mishri Prajapati, aged four years, died under mysterious circumstances that were first attributed to contaminated dosa batter.
Diary Entry Reveals Mother's Wish for a Son
According to police officials, a critical piece of evidence emerged from a diary found at the home of the mother's parents. An officer stated, "We discovered a diary where the mother, Bhavna Prajapati, wrote about her strong desire to have a boy. She even made a vow to visit a temple if her wish was fulfilled." This revelation has led investigators to consider the possibility that the girls were murdered because their parents wanted a son, highlighting deep-seated gender biases in some families.
Toxicology Reports Point to Insecticide Poisoning
Further deepening the mystery, toxicology tests conducted on the parents' blood samples detected the presence of aluminium phosphide, a chemical commonly used in insecticides and rodenticides. Another officer explained, "The tests confirmed aluminium phosphide in their systems, which is highly toxic and can be fatal if ingested." This finding contradicts the initial assumption of food contamination and suggests a more sinister cause of death.
Father's Purchase of Wheat Preservative Raises Suspicion
During questioning, the father, Vimal Prajapati, admitted to purchasing 10 packets of a wheat preservative that contains aluminium phosphide. The officer added, "Vimal used eight packets but could not account for the whereabouts of the remaining two packets, raising serious doubts about his involvement." This discrepancy has become a key focus of the investigation, as police explore whether the chemical was used to harm the children.
Family Disputes Over Money Also Under Investigation
In addition to the son preference angle, police have uncovered ongoing family quarrels over financial matters. Vimal's parents, Gaurishankar and Kusum Prajapati, were also questioned after it was revealed that the family had constant arguments about money. The mother, Bhavna Prajapati, remains hospitalized, while the father, Vimal, has been extensively interrogated. Additional Commissioner of Police, Sector 1, Neeraj Badgujar, confirmed that Vimal was questioned, but no arrests have been made yet.
