Ahata Manager Fatally Attacked Over Liquor Service Refusal in Faridabad
In a shocking incident that unfolded late on Tuesday night, an ahata manager in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, was allegedly beaten to death by wedding guests after he refused to serve them liquor beyond permissible hours. The brutal murder took place just metres away from a police outpost, highlighting concerns over public safety and law enforcement vigilance.
Details of the Tragic Assault
Aadesh Yadav, a 30-year-old manager at a Sector 3 ahata, was attacked with sticks, iron rods, and stones outside the establishment. According to police reports, the assault occurred around 12:30 am while a wedding function was ongoing at a nearby community centre. Yadav, who resided on the premises, informed a group of men that the outlet had shut for the night and could not be reopened for drinking.
The refusal sparked an argument that quickly escalated into violence. The men initially returned to the community centre but came back with reinforcements, leading to a group of approximately 10 to 12 individuals descending on Yadav. They repeatedly struck his head and body with the weapons, resulting in fatal injuries.
Witness Account and Family Tragedy
Sumit, Yadav's brother who had traveled from Sector 86 to visit him, witnessed the attack. In his complaint, Sumit stated that the youths also picked a quarrel with him and attempted to snatch money from his pocket when he tried to intervene. When Yadav stepped in to protect his brother and reiterate that liquor could not be served after closing time, the group turned their aggression towards him.
Despite efforts by bystanders and Sumit to save Yadav, the attackers continued their assault until he collapsed. He died on the spot before the assailants fled the scene. Yadav, originally from Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh, had been working at the Sector 3 tavern for about two years. He is survived by his wife and four children, who reside in their village, leaving the family devastated by the loss.
Police Response and Investigation
A murder case has been registered at Sector 8 police station based on Sumit's complaint. Authorities are actively scanning CCTV footage from the area and the community centre to identify those involved in the crime. Yashpal Yadav, a spokesperson for Faridabad police, assured that the case has been transferred to the Uncha Gaon crime branch, with arrests expected soon.
The incident's proximity to the Sector 3 police post raises questions about response times and security measures in the region. This tragedy underscores the need for stricter enforcement of liquor laws and enhanced public safety protocols to prevent such violent outbreaks in the future.
