Agra Court Delivers Justice in Six-Year-Old Murder Case

In a significant verdict that brought closure to a six-year-old criminal case, an Agra court has sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of a local man. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sanjay K Lal found Kusuma Devi, Sunil Kumar, and Dharamveer guilty of murdering Ramveer Singh, whose body was discovered in a dry well in 2019.

The Tragic Testimony of Young Witnesses

The case took a dramatic turn when the victim's two sons, aged just 12 and 15 at the time of the incident, provided crucial testimony that became instrumental in securing convictions. According to government counsel Pradeep Kumar, the minors revealed in their court depositions that Sunil Kumar frequently visited their home during their father's absence.

The children testified that their mother, Kusuma Devi, would physically assault them whenever they disclosed information about Sunil's visits to their father. They also confirmed that frequent quarrels occurred between their parents over this matter, highlighting the domestic tension that ultimately led to the tragic outcome.

How the Murder Unfolded

The prosecution established that the murder occurred on February 13, 2019, in Bisrana village, Agra. The investigation revealed that Ramveer Singh had grown suspicious of his wife's relationship with Sunil Kumar, with whom he operated an auto-rickshaw business. When Ramveer confronted Kusuma about her inappropriate relationship, she allegedly threatened him with dire consequences.

According to the prosecution's case, the three accused conspired together and attacked Ramveer with a blunt object, killing him instantly. The perpetrators then wrapped the body in a mattress and dumped it in a dry well located near the family home in an attempt to conceal their crime.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The case came to light when Ramveer's maternal uncle, Teekaram, grew suspicious after his nephew disappeared. Teekaram informed police that approximately two months before the murder, Ramveer had confided in him about his wife's inappropriate relationships and the threats he had received when he objected to her behavior.

During police questioning, Kusuma Devi admitted her involvement in the crime and provided details about the murder conspiracy. All three accused were subsequently arrested and remained in judicial custody throughout the trial proceedings.

The court examined ten prosecution witnesses, including the two children, and three defense witnesses before delivering the verdict on November 6, 2025. In addition to the life imprisonment sentences, the court imposed monetary fines on each convict under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to murder, common intention, and causing disappearance of evidence.
