Woman Succumbs to Injuries After Acid Attack in Kushinagar Home
A 23-year-old woman has tragically died following a brutal acid attack that occurred inside her family home in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district. The horrific incident, which also left her 58-year-old mother in critical condition, has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a high-level police investigation.
Attack During Sleep Leaves Family Devastated
According to police reports, the victims—identified as Kajal and her mother Lilavati Devi—were attacked late on Thursday night while they were asleep in their residence located in the Morwan area under Ramkola police station jurisdiction. The assailant is believed to have entered the house through the roof after midnight and poured acid on both women as they slept.
The father of the family, Prabhunath Yadav, who was sleeping in the veranda at the time, rushed inside upon hearing their agonizing cries. However, by the time he reached them, the attacker had already fled the scene, leaving behind a scene of unimaginable suffering.
Medical Efforts and Tragic Outcome
Both victims were immediately transported to Kushinagar Medical College for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of their chemical burns and injuries, they were subsequently transferred to Gorakhpur Medical College for more specialized care.
Despite medical efforts, Kajal succumbed to her injuries on Friday morning during treatment. Her mother Lilavati Devi remains hospitalized in critical condition, fighting for her life as medical teams work to stabilize her condition.

Senior police officials, including the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Gorakhpur range, the Superintendent of Police, and the Additional Superintendent of Police, have personally visited the crime scene to oversee the investigation. Police have revealed that Prabhunath Yadav had previously worked at a cold storage facility in Asansol, West Bengal, and had returned to Kushinagar approximately six months ago following his retirement.
