ACB nabs hospital guard for Rs 3,600 bribe

The Palghar branch of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) successfully apprehended a security guard at Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Hospital in Bhayander (West) while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3,600 on April 24. The trap was laid on the first floor of the hospital premises.

Complainant's Ordeal

The complainant approached the ACB after the security guard, identified as Amit Kini (43), informed him that he could arrange the compulsory health certificate (CHC) without the complainant undergoing any medical test. The complainant and his eight friends had planned a religious trip to Amarnath and visited the hospital to inquire about the required health certificate.

Demand and Negotiation

According to an ACB press release, the accused initially demanded Rs 500 per certificate. After negotiations, the amount was reduced to Rs 400 per certificate, totaling Rs 3,600 for nine certificates. The ACB laid a trap and nabbed the guard while he was accepting the cash.
