Dhule Police Seize 43 Rounds of Ammunition from Gurdwara Accused's House
43 Rounds of Ammunition Seized in Dhule Gurdwara Case

In a significant development in the Dhule Gurdwara case, the police have seized a cache of ammunition from the residence of a key accused. The discovery was made during a search operation linked to an alleged attack on devotees earlier this month.

Ammunition Seized During House Search

The Dhule police conducted a search at the house of Ranbirsingh Khalsa, located within the complex of the Guru Nanak Saheb Ji Gurdwara in Dhule city. During this operation, officers recovered a total of 43 rounds of ammunition of two different calibres. The seizure included eight bullets of one type and another 35 rounds of .45mm calibre.

Background of the Case and Judicial Custody

Ranbirsingh Khalsa is a common accused in two separate cases registered at the Dhule City Police Station on January 5. The first case, which includes charges of attempt to murder (Section 109 BNS), unlawful assembly, and wrongful restraint, stems from a violent incident on the night of January 4. According to the complainant, a group was attacked when they tried to enter the Gurdwara. The assailants, allegedly including Khalsa, used fire extinguishers, sticks, and rods in the assault.

The complainant stated that after the murder of Dheerajsingh Khalsa in December, Ranbirsingh Khalsa had proclaimed himself the chief of the Gurdwara. This move was reportedly opposed by a large section of the local Sikh community. It was also alleged that Ranbirsingh Khalsa kept the Gurdwara gates closed, preventing devotees from entering for prayers.

The second case against him involves charges of wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation. Ranbirsingh Khalsa, along with 11 other accused, is currently in judicial custody in connection with the first case.

Fresh Case and Potential Externment

In light of the ammunition seizure, the police are taking further legal action. Superintendent of Police Shrikant Dhivare confirmed that a fresh case under the Indian Arms Act will be registered against Ranbirsingh Khalsa. "He will be arrested again for the investigation of the fresh case," stated SP Dhivare.

Furthermore, considering the seriousness of the two existing cases, the Dhule police are also planning to initiate externment proceedings against Khalsa. A formal proposal in this regard is being prepared to be sent to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate for approval.

The investigation continues as authorities piece together the events of the January 4 attack and the circumstances surrounding the possession of the recovered ammunition.
