In a dramatic late-night operation, Haryana Police successfully apprehended four individuals accused of a brutal murder after a tense exchange of gunfire. The incident unfolded in the Badli police station area of Jhajjar district, marking a significant breakthrough in a recent homicide case.
Police Encounter Leads to Arrests
The confrontation occurred on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Acting on a specific tip-off regarding the whereabouts of the suspects involved in a murder, a police team from the Badli police station launched a covert operation. The accused, identified as Ravinder, Sandeep, Sahil, and Pardeep, were located and signaled to surrender.
However, instead of complying, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police party in a bid to escape. The police team, led by Sub-Inspector Sandeep, retaliated in self-defence, leading to a brief but intense shootout. During the exchange, one of the accused, Ravinder, sustained a bullet injury to his leg. The police subsequently overpowered and arrested all four individuals.
Connection to a Gruesome Murder
The arrested men are the prime accused in a murder case that had sent shockwaves through the community. The victim, Ravinder alias Ravi (a different individual from the accused), was allegedly abducted and brutally killed on March 26. His body was later discovered in the fields of village Badli.
Initial investigations by the police revealed that the murder was the result of a monetary dispute. The accused had reportedly taken a loan from the victim. The disagreement over the repayment of this debt escalated, ultimately leading to the planned abduction and killing. The police had registered a case and had been actively pursuing the suspects since the crime was reported.
Recovery of Weapons and Case Proceedings
Following the encounter and arrests, the police conducted a search and recovered crucial evidence from the possession of the accused. This included two country-made pistols and several live cartridges, which were allegedly used in both the murder and the subsequent firefight with the police.
The injured accused, Ravinder, was provided with immediate medical attention. All four are now in police custody and are being subjected to rigorous interrogation. The Jhajjar police have stated that they are investigating further to uncover any additional connections or crimes linked to the arrested individuals. The successful operation has been hailed as a major achievement for the local police force in cracking a serious criminal case.
The police have assured the public that a thorough probe is underway and that the accused will be presented before the court to face charges of murder and attempt to murder, among others. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces with violent crime and the risks officers undertake to bring perpetrators to justice.
