Tragic SUV Accident Claims Three Lives in Jaunpur
In a heartbreaking incident that occurred on Wednesday night, three young men lost their lives while two others sustained serious injuries when their sports utility vehicle fell into a deep roadside ditch near Udiyasan Muftiganj market. The accident took place in the Kerakat police station area of Jaunpur district, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Crash
According to Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Kaustubh, who personally visited the accident site and assessed the condition of the injured, the SUV was carrying five individuals from Varanasi. They were traveling to the Sewainala area under Gaurabadshahpur police station to attend a marriage ceremony when the tragedy struck.
The vehicle was navigating the Jaunpur-Kerakat road when, while passing through Udiyasan Muftiganj market, the driver failed to notice a deep ditch located after a blind turn. The SUV plunged into the excavation and became stranded against a tree, causing severe damage to the vehicle and critical injuries to its occupants.
Rescue Efforts and Medical Response
Alert passersby who witnessed the accident immediately notified the Kerakat police station. Police in-charge Deependra Kumar quickly arrived at the scene with his team and initiated rescue operations using ropes to extract the trapped individuals from the wrecked vehicle.
The injured were rushed to the nearest community health center, where doctors declared three of the five passengers dead on arrival. The two surviving victims with grave injuries were subsequently admitted to the district hospital for specialized medical treatment. Their current condition remains a matter of concern.
Victims Identified as Wedding Guests
Police investigation has revealed the identities of the deceased. The victims have been identified as Bablu Sonkar (45), Shyamlal Sonkar (35), and Raju Sonkar (45), all residents of Cantt area under the same police station in Varanasi.
The group was traveling to attend the marriage function of Sandeep, a fellow resident from their locality. Sandeep's wedding procession had already proceeded to Lakshman's residence in Ikauna village of Sewai Nala area in Jaunpur when the tragic accident occurred.
Authorities have confirmed that the reason behind the accident is still under investigation, with police examining all possible factors that might have contributed to this devastating incident. The local community has been left in mourning as families come to terms with the sudden loss of their loved ones during what was supposed to be a celebratory occasion.
