In a swift response to a viral social media post, the Bengaluru City Police have arrested three individuals, including a minor, for allegedly stalking and harassing a woman motorist. The incident occurred on the night of December 24 near the busy Silk Board Junction.
Viral Video Captures Harassment
The entire sequence was recorded by a vigilant commuter, Abhinav Vasudevan, who goes by the handle @abhyn0w on social media platform X. His mobile phone footage shows the accused, riding triple on a single gearless scooter, dangerously tailgating a woman who was riding alone. According to police statements, the trio followed her for over a kilometre, engaging in teasing, making obscene gestures, and harassing her throughout the chase.
Public Intervention and Police Action
After documenting the incident, Abhinav Vasudevan confronted the youths by stopping his vehicle near them. Realising they were being filmed, the three sped away from the scene. Vasudevan subsequently uploaded the video on X, directly tagging the Bengaluru City Police, which prompted immediate investigation.
Using the vehicle's registration number visible in the video, the police traced and identified the accused. Two of the accused, both aged 19, have been named as Sheik Ayaan and Sheikh Roshan. The third individual involved is a minor.
Legal Consequences for the Accused
The police have taken stringent action following the identification. The minor accused has been sent to a juvenile home. The two adult accused, Sheik Ayaan and Sheikh Roshan, have been remanded to judicial custody at the Bengaluru Central Prison.
