3 Arrested for Abducting Woman Outside Bhilwara SP Office

In a shocking incident in Bhilwara, police have taken swift action following the brazen abduction of a young married woman right outside the office of the Superintendent of Police. The event, which unfolded on Wednesday evening, has led to the arrest of three close family members, while a fourth accused remains on the run.

Dramatic Abduction Outside Police Headquarters

The victim, identified as 22-year-old Sangeeta from Badla village, had come to the SP office with her husband, Gopal Jat of Lakhminiyas village in the Kotdi area. The couple was seeking police protection due to severe opposition from Sangeeta's family regarding their love marriage. As Sangeeta attempted to enter the office to lodge a formal security complaint, her relatives allegedly ambushed her.

According to police reports, the family members forcibly grabbed Sangeeta and pushed her into a waiting black Scorpio vehicle. The abduction occurred in the shadow of the police headquarters, highlighting the audacity of the accused. When policemen on duty intervened to stop the vehicle, the accused reportedly tried to run them over before speeding away from the scene.

Swift Police Action and Arrests

Bhilwara police launched an immediate investigation and managed to safely rescue Sangeeta within hours of the incident. The swift response led to the arrest of three individuals directly involved in the crime. Those taken into custody are the woman's father, Shivraj Jat, and her two uncles, Kalu and Kalyan.

However, the driver of the Scorpio managed to evade capture during the initial police action. He is currently absconding, and special police teams have been formed to track him down. The police have registered two separate cases against the accused, including charges of abduction and obstruction of government duty.

Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact

The case has sent ripples through the community, putting a spotlight on the extreme measures some families resort to in opposing self-choice marriages. The fact that the abduction was attempted at the very doorstep of the district's top police official underscores the challenges faced by couples seeking protection from familial threats.

Police authorities have assured the public that they are pursuing all leads to apprehend the absconding driver. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing social issues surrounding marriage choices in parts of the country and the critical role of law enforcement in protecting individual freedoms.
