Panchkula is set for a high-profile visit as Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah arrives on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. In preparation, the district police have orchestrated an extensive and multi-layered security operation, mobilizing a force of over 2,750 personnel to ensure the minister's safety and smooth proceedings.
Elaborate Security Deployment and Key Appointments
The security blueprint was finalized during a high-level review meeting chaired by Panchkula Police Commissioner (ADGP) Shivas Kaviraj on Monday evening at the GO Mess in Police Lines. The meeting laid down comprehensive guidelines covering every aspect of the visit.
The security architecture will be managed by a large contingent of senior officers. A total of 10 officers of SP or DCP rank will be on duty, supported by four Additional SPs, 41 DSPs or ACPs, and 90 inspectors. To bolster the local arrangements, additional police forces have been drawn from various ranges, commissionerates, and districts across Haryana.
DCP (Panchkula) Srishti Gupta has been appointed as the overall in-charge of the security arrangements. She will supervise and monitor all preparations related to the Home Minister's itinerary. Police Commissioner Shibash Kabiraj emphasized that the focus will be on seamless coordination, constant alertness, and swift response capabilities for venue security, route plans, parking, traffic, and crowd control.
Minister's Itinerary and Traffic Disruptions
During his stay, Amit Shah is scheduled to visit several key locations in Panchkula. These include the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 3, Inderdhanush Auditorium, Shivalik Country Club, Mansa Devi Temple, Atal Park Mansa Devi, and the Panchkamal BJP office. Enhanced security measures have been activated at all these venues in view of the multiple engagements.
In light of the visit, the district administration has issued a detailed traffic advisory, urging citizens to cooperate. DCP (Crime and Traffic) Manpreet Singh Soodan outlined the restrictions. On December 24, from 12 noon until the end of the program at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, general vehicular movement will be restricted on several key stretches.
The affected routes include:
- The road from Singh Dwar Light Point at Mansa Devi via Old Panchkula to Tau Devi Lal Stadium.
- The stretch from Sector 6/7 Light Point via Shalimar Chowk towards Sectors 8/9 and 9/10.
- The route from Singh Dwar to Kohni Sahib Gurdwara (via Sai Dairy).
- The road from Dolphin Chowk towards Panchkula.
Alternate Routes for Commuters
Commuters traveling between Chandigarh and Panchkula have been advised to use internal city routes via the Housing Board through Sectors 17 and 18. The main Chandigarh-Panchkula route via Saketri will remain closed for the day. Attendees of the program at Inderdhanush Auditorium are requested to park their vehicles at the designated parking area near the Dharna Site in Sector 5.
The massive security deployment underscores the significance of the visit and the authorities' commitment to maintaining law and order. Residents are advised to plan their travel accordingly and follow official instructions for a hassle-free experience.
