Wedding Celebration Turns Deadly in Ludhiana

A joyous wedding celebration at a resort on Pakhowal road in Ludhiana turned into a horrific scene of violence on Saturday night when two notorious criminal gangs clashed, resulting in the death of two wedding guests and leaving one person injured.

The Fatal Incident Details

According to police reports, the wedding was organized for the niece of a prominent city-based contractor and had attracted several VIP guests, including some MLAs. The situation escalated when members of two rival criminal gangs, who were both present at the function, engaged in a violent confrontation that quickly turned deadly.

During the altercation, multiple rounds were fired as the criminals targeted each other. Neeru Chhabra, a woman guest, and Vasu Chopra, a male guest, sustained fatal gunshot injuries and died at the scene. Another unidentified man was also injured in the shooting and has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

Police Response and Investigation

The Sadar police registered a case based on statements provided by ASI Sukhwinder Singh. Six individuals have been specifically identified among the accused: Ankur, Jasveer Singh, Rubal Pardhan, Jatinder Kumar Dawar, Shubham Mota, and Yuvraj Singh. Additionally, the FIR names twelve unidentified accomplices.

The case has been registered under serious charges including murder, attempt to murder, and rioting. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP-South) Harjinder Singh confirmed that both gangs involved have extensive criminal records and have clashed violently in the past.

"Firing between two notorious criminals and their associates led to the death of two persons at the wedding," stated ACP Harjinder Singh. "The injured person has been admitted to hospital. While we are still investigating what exactly triggered this particular violent episode, we can confirm that all the accused have past criminal records."

Police authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and they are working to determine the precise sequence of events that led to the tragic shooting at what should have been a celebratory occasion.
