Tirupati district police have made significant progress in a concerning case involving the alleged abduction and assault of two student leaders. On Wednesday, authorities arrested thirteen individuals in connection with this incident that occurred near Tiruchanoor while the victims were en route to the Tirupati district collectorate.
Details of the Alleged Abduction
The victims, identified as Ali Akbar and Vinod Kumar, are both student leaders affiliated with the Students' Federation of India (SFI). According to police reports, they were intercepted, assaulted, and forcibly taken away in multiple vehicles while proceeding to submit a memorandum against Mohan Babu University. The representation they intended to deliver allegedly highlighted fee irregularities at the educational institution.
Police Investigation and Rescue Operation
Tirupati additional SP Ravi Manoharachary provided details to reporters, explaining that the case was registered at Tiruchanoor police station based on a complaint regarding an incident that took place on February 3rd. The location was near a private hotel junction at the Tiruchanoor 150 Bypass Road.
Acting on directions from district SP L Subba Rayudu, special police teams were immediately formed and launched a search operation. This prompt response led to the successful rescue of both student leaders within a remarkably short timeframe, demonstrating effective police intervention.
Arrests and Evidence Collection
As part of their thorough investigation, police have arrested thirteen individuals connected to the case. Among those apprehended is Ravuru Satheesh, who serves as the Public Relations Officer for Mohan Babu University. The other arrested persons include K Surendra, P Rajesh, P Janaki Ram, Ch Badrinadh, L Muni Chandra, C Surendra, P Hemanth, N Vasudeva, A Muni Teja, C Krishna Chaitanya, P Vishesh, and M Dwaraka Sai Prathap.
Law enforcement authorities have also seized substantial evidence, including three Innova cars allegedly used during the commission of the offense. Additionally, police confiscated a Royal Enfield motorcycle belonging to one of the victims. The investigation remains active, with special teams continuing efforts to trace and apprehend additional accused individuals who are currently absconding.
University's Counter-Complaint and Police Warning
Additional SP Ravi Manoharachary revealed that a counter-complaint filed by the university PRO at Chandragiri police station has also been registered and is currently under investigation. This development adds complexity to the ongoing case as authorities examine claims from both sides.
The police official issued a stern warning regarding the use of bouncers, emphasizing that their employment must be strictly limited to personal security purposes and must operate within legal boundaries. He cautioned that any misuse of such security personnel would invite stringent action, potentially including consequences for the management of institutions involved.
The ASP made it unequivocally clear that the Tirupati district police would not tolerate acts of intimidation or violence. He emphasized that authorities would proceed firmly against anyone attempting to take the law into their own hands, regardless of their position or affiliation.
