In a significant crackdown aimed at protecting vulnerable minors, the Patna district administration successfully rescued eleven children from the vicinity of Patna Junction on Tuesday. The operation, which highlights the grim realities of child exploitation, led to the recovery of ten boys and one girl who were found entangled in a cycle of substance abuse and forced begging.
Rescue Drive at a Major Transit Hub
The rescue mission was conducted around the bustling Patna Junction, a major railway station that often becomes a focal point for such activities. Officials identified the children, who were visibly suffering from the effects of substance abuse and were engaged in soliciting alms from passengers and commuters. The drive was executed under the direct orders of District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M, who has emphasized regular enforcement across the district to eradicate the twin menaces of child begging and drug abuse among minors.
Rehabilitation Process Begins
Following their rescue, the welfare of the children was immediately prioritized. All eleven minors were formally produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the statutory body responsible for their care and protection. As per the committee's direction, the children have been moved to designated shelter homes. Here, they will receive necessary care, counselling, and support to help them recover and reintegrate into society away from the streets.
In a related action during the same drive, authorities also rescued a woman and two other children. This group was safely relocated to Shanti Kutir, another facility providing shelter and aid.

This operation is not an isolated incident but part of a broader, sustained campaign ordered by the district leadership. The administration has committed to continuing these enforcement drives regularly to identify and rescue more children in distress.
