UP Launches Sardar Patel Zones for Jobs & Industry

The Uttar Pradesh government is launching a major new initiative to link job creation with industrial growth across the state. This programme, named the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel employment and industrial zone scheme, aims to establish integrated hubs in every district.

CM Yogi Reviews Action Plan for Statewide Rollout

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally examined a detailed action plan for implementing this ambitious scheme on Friday. He emphasized that these zones must function as complete ecosystems. The goal is to bring industries, training facilities and essential services together under one roof.

Core Objectives: Jobs, Training and Entrepreneurship

The Chief Minister clearly outlined the project's primary focus. Beyond just setting up industries, the core mission is to connect the state's youth with proper training, job placements and entrepreneurial support. He stated that skilling, handholding and placement services must be mandatorily linked to each zone.

Young people will be connected to employment opportunities through various channels. These include structured training programmes, skill upgradation courses, regular job fairs and dedicated entrepreneurship training with mentoring.

Infrastructure and Facility Details

Each Sardar Patel zone will be developed on a substantial piece of land. The minimum area allocated for a zone will be 50 acres. A key feature will be a G+3 building that will serve as the central hub.

This building will house multiple critical functions:

  • An employment and skill development centre
  • Display zones showcasing products from the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme
  • Training halls and meeting facilities
  • Offices for the District Industries Centre
  • The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission office
  • The district employment office
  • Common Service Centres (CSCs)
  • Banking facilities for easy access to finance

Plug-and-Play Model for Quick Industry Setup

The industrial zones themselves are designed for speed and efficiency. They will follow a plug-and-play model. This approach is intended to provide immediate operational facilities to industries, particularly in the MSME service and manufacturing sectors. The idea is to reduce setup time and bureaucratic hurdles for businesses.

Coordinated Implementation with Existing Schemes

The Chief Minister added that this project will not operate in isolation. It will be implemented in close coordination with several existing state government schemes. Key among these are the ODOP programme, various MSME support schemes and ongoing skill development initiatives. This coordinated effort aims to maximize impact and resource utilization.

The launch of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel zones represents a significant step in Uttar Pradesh's economic development strategy. By creating these integrated districts hubs, the state government hopes to stimulate industrial growth while directly addressing the critical need for skilled employment for its youth.
