Telangana Designates 500 Acres for Central Bullet Train Hub in Bharat Future City
In a significant development for the state's infrastructure, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced on Monday that 500 acres of land will be allocated near Shamshabad in Bharat Future City. This allocation is specifically intended to establish a central hub for bullet train projects, strategically positioning Telangana as a crucial node in future high-speed rail networks across India.
Union Budget 2026-27 Sanctions Major Bullet Train Connections
Minister Reddy detailed that the Central government, through the Union budget for 2026–27, has officially sanctioned bullet train projects that will connect major metropolitan cities, including Chennai, Pune, and Bengaluru, with routes passing through Telangana. This move is expected to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth by integrating Telangana into a national high-speed rail framework.
Substantial Progress in Road and Bridge Infrastructure
Highlighting the state's recent achievements in infrastructure development, Reddy reported that over the past 27 months, Telangana has completed 595 kilometers of roads and 51 bridges at a total cost of 1,035 crore rupees. Additionally, a further 323 kilometers of roads and 16 bridges have been finished with an expenditure of 485 crore rupees, demonstrating a robust commitment to improving transportation networks.
Major Projects Set to Boost Telangana's Economy
The minister also outlined several key projects that are poised to significantly enhance the state's economic landscape. Among these are the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), the six-lane expansion of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada corridor, the Amaravati-Bandar Port greenfield expressway, and the Srisailam elevated corridor. These initiatives are anticipated to not only improve connectivity but also drive industrial and commercial growth across Telangana.
This comprehensive infrastructure push underscores Telangana's proactive approach to leveraging modern transportation solutions, with the bullet train hub serving as a cornerstone for future high-speed rail developments in the region.
