Rajasthan Pilot for Prefabricated Anganwadi Centres with CSR

The Rajasthan government is set to launch a pilot project for developing prefabricated anganwadi centres, initially targeting those operating from rented premises. The announcement was made during a departmental review meeting on Thursday, where Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari reviewed a presentation outlining various designs for prefabricated model anganwadis.

Upgrading to Model Centres

The action plan involves upgrading existing anganwadi centres into "model centres" by leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. These upgraded centres will feature modern amenities such as smart classrooms, kitchen gardens, child-friendly furniture, and toy banks. The deputy chief minister directed that a pilot project be undertaken to convert rented anganwadi buildings and other dilapidated structures across the state into prefabricated model anganwadis with CSR support.

Role of CSR Workshops

Emphasising the importance of corporate participation, Kumari stated, "CSR support could play a pivotal role in this endeavour, and CSR workshops must be organised to encourage corporations and industries to extend their cooperation for this cause." She also highlighted the need for regular training of anganwadi workers to effectively deliver early childhood education, utilise play-based learning methodologies, and employ digital tools.
