The Madhya Pradesh government is set to formally inaugurate the 'Krishan Varsh' or Farmer Welfare Year this Sunday, with a major state-level event planned at Jamboree Maidan in Bhopal. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will personally lead the launch ceremonies, marking a significant push towards agricultural transformation in the state.
Grand Launch with Krishi Rath and Tractor Rally
Ahead of the main event, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will flag off a 'Krishi Rath' and a farmers' tractor rally from the Kokta Bypass. This symbolic move is designed to kickstart the year-long focus on farmer welfare with widespread participation. During the launch, CM Yadav will address farmers directly, briefing them on the planned activities for the Farmer Welfare Year and detailing the state government's pro-farmer schemes slated for implementation leading up to 2026.
Focus on Profitable and Tech-Driven Agriculture
Outlining the vision, Yadav stated that the core objective of Krishan Varsh is to reshape agriculture into a profitable, sustainable, and technology-driven model that also generates employment. The initiative will concentrate on several key sectors to create a holistic ecosystem.
The focus areas include horticulture, animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, and food processing. A major emphasis will be placed on promoting district-level, cluster-based development by integrating these sectors with agriculture and forestry.
Boosting Incomes and Creating Rural Jobs
The government has outlined a multi-pronged strategy to enhance farmers' livelihoods. The plan involves increasing income through higher productivity and the promotion of natural farming practices. Additionally, the expansion of digital services and the strengthening of agricultural processing infrastructure are key components.
A crucial goal is to create new employment avenues for rural youth. The state aims to train and engage them in emerging agriculture-based sectors such as:
- Agri-tech services
- Drone operations for farming
- Management of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)
- Food processing units
- Hydroponics and other modern techniques
This comprehensive approach under Krishan Varsh seeks to not only support existing farmers but also make the agricultural sector an attractive and viable career option for the next generation, driving economic growth in rural Madhya Pradesh.
