DAV Senior Secondary Model School recently observed Jal Pakhwada 2026, a fortnight-long campaign dedicated to water conservation. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the critical importance of saving water and sustainable usage.
Activities and Initiatives
Throughout the campaign, students engaged in various activities such as poster-making, essay writing, and debates focused on water conservation. A special assembly was held where students took a pledge to conserve water in their daily lives. The school also organized a cleanliness drive around local water bodies to emphasize the need for maintaining clean water sources.
Educational Sessions
Interactive sessions were conducted by teachers highlighting the global water crisis and the role of individuals in mitigating it. Documentary screenings on water scarcity and its impact on communities were also part of the program. Students were encouraged to adopt simple practices like fixing leaky taps and using water-efficient appliances at home.
Community Outreach
As part of the outreach, students created awareness pamphlets and distributed them in the neighborhood. They also performed skits to convey the message of water conservation effectively. The school principal emphasized that such initiatives instill a sense of responsibility towards natural resources from a young age.
Pledge and Commitment
The Jal Pakhwada concluded with a collective pledge by students and staff to become ambassadors of water conservation. The school plans to continue these efforts through regular monitoring and integration of water-saving practices into the curriculum. This initiative aligns with the national Jal Shakti Abhiyan, aiming to make water conservation a people's movement.
