Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday issued comprehensive guidelines for officials to tackle the severe heat wave sweeping across the state. The directives emphasize close monitoring of hospitals, uninterrupted water supply, and public awareness campaigns to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Key Directives for Hospitals and Healthcare
The CM instructed health department officials to ensure all hospitals are equipped with adequate facilities to handle heat stroke cases. He directed that emergency wards be kept fully functional and that sufficient stocks of essential medicines, ORS packets, and cold water be maintained. District magistrates and chief medical officers have been asked to conduct regular inspections of healthcare facilities.
Water Supply and Power Arrangements
Adityanath stressed the need for uninterrupted drinking water supply in urban and rural areas. He ordered the Jal Nigam and local bodies to repair any pipeline leaks promptly and deploy tankers in water-scarce regions. Additionally, power supply to water pumping stations and hospitals must be prioritized to ensure no disruption.
Public Awareness and Safety Measures
The CM urged officials to launch awareness campaigns through public announcements, social media, and local media advising people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and recognize early symptoms of heat stroke. Schools and colleges have been advised to adjust timings to avoid peak heat hours.
Coordination with Disaster Management
The state disaster management authority has been put on high alert. Control rooms will operate 24/7 to respond to emergencies. Fire departments and ambulance services have been instructed to remain on standby. Officials have also been directed to provide shade and drinking water at public places like bus stands and markets.
These measures come as temperatures in several parts of Uttar Pradesh have crossed 45 degrees Celsius, affecting daily life. The CM has warned of strict action against negligence and urged citizens to cooperate with authorities.
