New initiatives to strengthen Bihar’s inland fisheries ecosystem were launched with the laying of foundation stones for an integrated aqua park at Bhojpur and a national fisheries development board regional centre in Patna on Monday.
Modernizing Fisheries Sector
“These initiatives aim to strengthen Bihar’s inland fisheries ecosystem through modern technologies, scientific resource management, employment generation and value addition, while supporting the transition towards a technology-driven, quality-focused and export-oriented fisheries sector,” read a statement from the ministry.
Key Officials Present
The foundation stones were laid by Minister for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
Aqua Park Details
The aqua park will include carp and catfish hatcheries, brooder incubation units, biofloc systems, a fish feed mill, and water quality and disease diagnostic laboratories. The total investment exceeds Rs 31 crore.
“The project is expected to significantly strengthen seed availability, promote technology adoption and enhance farmer incomes in the region,” the ministry said.
