Shimla DC Cancels All Leaves for Three Months Amid Monsoon Threat
Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has ordered the cancellation of all official leaves for district administration employees from July 2 to September 30, 2026, to ensure readiness for potential natural disasters during the monsoon season. The directive applies to all officers and staff, who must remain at their headquarters and be prepared for immediate emergency response.
Rising Disaster Frequency Prompts Precautionary Measures
Kashyap noted that the district has experienced an increase in natural disasters in recent years. Consequently, the administration has prioritized human safety, prompt relief and rescue operations, and uninterrupted restoration of essential services. All previously approved leaves stand cancelled immediately, and new leaves will only be granted in extremely urgent and unavoidable circumstances with prior permission from the competent authority.
Strict Compliance and Communication Protocols
Officers are prohibited from leaving headquarters without prior approval and must keep their mobile phones and other communication channels switched on at all times. Any change in contact details must be reported immediately to the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) and the relevant senior officer. The DC emphasized that leave requests sent via WhatsApp or other informal channels will not be considered valid. Disciplinary action under service rules will be taken against any officer or employee for unauthorized absence or leaving headquarters without formal permission.
