Rs 200 Cr Depot Tender for Bengaluru Suburban Rail

Bengaluru: Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE) has issued a tender for the construction of a train maintenance depot at Soladevanahalli, a key component of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP). The estimated cost of the project is Rs 200 crore.

Depot Purpose and Facilities

The proposed depot is designed to support the operations and maintenance of trains operating on the Baiyappanahalli–Chikkabanavara and Heelalige–Rajankunte suburban rail corridors, including Corridor 4. The facility will be equipped with stabling lines, workshop lines, inspection and repair bays, and a fully automated coach washing plant.

Land Acquisition and Sustainability

K-RIDE has already acquired 26 acres of private land required for the depot. The facility is being designed as a sustainable infrastructure, incorporating solar power generation systems and rainwater harvesting infrastructure to minimize environmental impact.

Recent Developments

In a related move, K-RIDE recently issued a work order to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai for the procurement of 153 coaches for the suburban rail project, marking progress in the overall initiative.
