In a significant move to streamline transportation for the massive influx of devotees, the Prayagraj Mela administration has launched a special registration camp for Rapido bike taxi services. The camp, organized on the DTI premises in Naini, is designed to ensure smooth, safe, and disciplined travel facilities for pilgrims attending the ongoing Magh Mela.
Officials Inaugurate Camp, Highlight Employment Potential
The registration drive was formally inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Saumya Agrawal. During the event, she administered a road safety pledge to all participants and emphasized the dual benefit of the initiative. Agrawal described the program as a major employment opportunity for local youth, stating that such efforts not only strengthen traffic management during large religious gatherings but also actively promote self-employment among young people.
A Strategic Partnership for Mela Logistics
Faced with the enormous logistical challenge of managing pilgrim movement, the Mela administration selected Rapido as a key transportation partner. Through this camp, young owners of two-wheelers who register on the Rapido platform will be authorized to offer bike taxi services to pilgrims at pre-fixed rates determined by the service provider. This model is expected to help devotees navigate crowded Mela areas conveniently while playing a crucial role in reducing overall traffic congestion in the zone.
Senior Administration Throws Weight Behind Initiative
The launch event saw participation from a host of senior district and Mela officials, underscoring the importance of the project. Notable attendees included District Magistrate Manish Verma, Vice Chairman of Prayagraj Development Authority and Mela Officer Rishiraj, Municipal Commissioner Selam Sai Teja, and Regional Transport Officer Himesh Tiwari. Their collective presence highlights a coordinated administrative effort to integrate modern ride-hailing solutions with traditional Mela management for enhanced public convenience and safety.
