Ranchi's 10-Task Force Aims for Top Swachh Survekshan 2024 Ranking
Ranchi Forms 10 Teams for Garbage-Free City Push

In a decisive move to secure a top position in the upcoming national cleanliness survey, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has rolled out an extensive, ward-level action plan. The civic body is leaving no stone unturned in its mission to transform the state capital into a model, garbage-free city ahead of next month's Swachh Survekshan rankings.

Micro-Level Planning with 10 Dedicated Teams

To ensure effective and granular execution, the RMC administration has constituted a total of 10 specialized teams. These teams will operate at the micro-level across all 53 wards of the city. The groundwork began with a pivotal meeting chaired by Additional Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Kumar on Friday, where a detailed action plan was formulated.

Kumar outlined the strategy, stating that each ward will identify four to five key spots spanning residential zones, commercial hubs, and tourist areas. These locations will become the focal points for intensive activities. The coordinated efforts will encompass daily regular cleaning, proactive citizen participation, strict waste segregation at source, and ensuring unhindered access for garbage collection vehicles.

Targeting Commercial Areas and Plastic Menace

Recognizing the unique challenges of market places, the RMC is preparing a separate beat plan for twice-daily waste collection in commercial areas. Furthermore, the corporation plans to establish direct coordination with market unions. The goal is to create areas free from Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) and to beautify existing GVP sites.

A parallel front in this cleanliness war is the crackdown on single-use plastics. The administration will launch targeted awareness campaigns and special drives in schools and public places across Ranchi to curb the use of banned plastic items.

Empowering Citizens with Information and Grievance Redressal

A significant emphasis during the planning meeting was on enhancing citizen engagement and transparency. The RMC will proactively provide residents with clear information on crucial aspects like waste segregation guidelines, scheduled timings for waste collection vehicles, and the use of QR codes for service requests.

Additionally, a dedicated toll-free number will be promoted for citizens to register complaints and offer suggestions, making the entire process more responsive and accountable. This multi-pronged approach combines on-ground action with public partnership, aiming to give Ranchi a decisive edge in the prestigious Swachh Survekshan 2024.
