Proposal to Expand Lokayukta Institution to Divisional, District Levels Soon

Upa Lokayukta Justice K N Phaneendra has announced that a proposal to expand the Lokayukta institution to the divisional and district levels will be sent to the government. Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, he emphasized the need for a stronger anti-corruption mechanism across Karnataka.

Expansion Plan Details

Justice Phaneendra stated that the Lokayukta institution must be established at the divisional level in Kalaburagi, Mysuru, and Dharwad. Additionally, a Lokayukta police station should be set up in every district to ensure effective enforcement. He noted that the current structure is insufficient to address corruption complaints from all regions.

Strengthening Anti-Corruption Efforts

The proposal aims to decentralize the Lokayukta's operations, making it more accessible to citizens. Justice Phaneendra highlighted that divisional offices would expedite inquiries and reduce the burden on the headquarters. He also stressed the importance of dedicated police stations to handle cases promptly.
