The Noida Authority has taken strict disciplinary action against two officials from its revenue department for failing to perform their duties. On Monday, the authority dismissed one lekhpal and withheld the salary of another, sending a strong message against negligence in public service.
Lekhpal Fired for Serious Negligence
Lekhpal Shubham Bhardwaj, who was posted in the revenue records department, has been removed from his position. The authority's chief executive officer, Lokesh M, stated that Bhardwaj consistently failed to carry out his official responsibilities. This failure caused significant delays in multiple critical areas.
The CEO highlighted that Bhardwaj's inaction led to holdups in court-related cases, stalled government work, and a backlog in disposing of public complaints. These complaints were filed through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System and under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Encroachment Complaints Ignored
Adding to the list of failures, the Noida Authority received repeated complaints about illegal encroachment on notified and acquired land within Bhardwaj's jurisdiction. The official allegedly took no action to address these violations, which further compounded the case against him.
Citing "serious negligence", CEO Lokesh M confirmed that Bhardwaj was relieved of his duties under the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1956, and the Noida Service Rules, 1981. The matter has now been forwarded to the state government for any further necessary action.
Salary Withheld for Second Official
In a related move, the authority has also taken action against another lekhpal, Seema Yadav. Officials confirmed that her salary has been withheld pending further orders due to similar lapses in her performance. This step indicates a broader crackdown on inefficiency within the department.
A Stern Warning from the Authority
The Noida Authority issued a clear warning to all its employees following these actions. It stated unequivocally that indiscipline and delays in addressing public grievances will not be tolerated. The decisive moves are intended to improve accountability and ensure timely resolution of citizen complaints and government work.
This disciplinary drive underscores the administration's focus on governance and efficient public service delivery in Noida.
