Residents of KT Nagar in Nagpur have accused the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) of failing to address encroachments and improper waste disposal, despite multiple complaints and inspections. They claim that commercial establishments, including food outlets and garages, have encroached upon public roads and open spaces in two housing societies, while garbage dumping near residential areas creates unhygienic conditions and health risks.
Specific Complaints
One resident alleged that a pizza outlet diverts food waste into the septic tank, causing frequent chokes and drainage water entering the water meter chamber. Despite repeated representations, the issue remains unresolved. Residents say that NMC's Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) visited the site at least three times, but violations persisted, and complainants were not informed of inspection outcomes.
Recent Visit and Notice
Dharampeth Zone assistant commissioner Rajkumar Meshram recently visited the area with NDS officials and issued a notice to the concerned outlet, directing it to clean the septic tank and remove accumulated garbage. However, residents remain sceptical, noting similar past assurances failed to produce lasting solutions.
Residents urge the civic administration to take sustained action against encroachments and improper waste disposal, emphasizing that strict monitoring and penalties are essential to prevent recurring violations and improve living conditions.
