The central government has announced an interim allocation of Rs 5,709 crore to Karnataka under the 'Viksit Bharat – Grameen Bharat' (VB-GRAM G) initiative. This was stated by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who emphasized that while 26 states have made the necessary budgetary provisions aligned with the objective, four states — Karnataka, Jharkhand, Telangana, and Mizoram — are yet to do so.

The Rs 5,709 crore interim allocation is intended to support rural development and infrastructure projects in Karnataka. The minister urged the state government to expedite the required budgetary adjustments to fully utilize the funds.
States Yet to Comply
According to Chouhan, the four non-compliant states must align their budgets with the VB-GRAM G framework to ensure seamless fund flow. The scheme aims to transform rural areas by bridging the gap between urban and rural development.
This development comes as part of the central government's broader push for inclusive growth, focusing on gramin (rural) areas. The interim allocation will help Karnataka initiate key projects until the state completes its budgetary formalities.
