Zilla panchayat chief executive officer KR Nandini personally visited multiple locations in Mandya district to check on the Jal Jeevan Mission. She conducted a thorough on-site inspection to assess the quality and progress of ongoing works under this crucial water supply scheme.

Detailed Review of Project Implementation

During her inspection tour, CEO Nandini reviewed project details meticulously. She sought comprehensive updates from executive engineers regarding the current status of implementation across the district. Her visit covered Hanakere village in Mandya taluk, along with Gudigere and Yaladahalli villages in Maddur taluk. She also inspected Kemboothagere village in Malavalli taluk to get a firsthand view of the work.

Directives for Timely Completion

Nandini issued clear instructions to officials during the inspection. She directed them to ensure that all necessary infrastructure for providing tap water connections to every household is completed strictly according to project guidelines. The CEO emphasized that completed works should be formally handed over to the respective gram panchayats without any unnecessary delay.

Addressing Public Grievances on Roads

Addressing public grievances emerged as a key focus during the inspection. Nandini noted that several complaints had been received from residents about roads left uneven after excavation for pipeline installations. She instructed engineers to immediately restore these roads as per prescribed standard operating procedures. The CEO also demanded a compliance report on this restoration work.

Focus on Water Quality and Infrastructure

The inspection also highlighted the need to expedite completion of overhead tank works. Nandini directed officials to take prompt action to secure handover of identified sites from concerned authorities. She gave specific instructions to gram panchayat watermen, telling them to conduct daily inspections of distribution pipelines. Any leakages must be repaired immediately to prevent water contamination, she stressed.

Panchayat development officers received directives to safeguard assets created under drinking water schemes. They must ensure regular cleaning and carry out periodic water quality tests using field test kits, according to the CEO's instructions.

Several key officials accompanied CEO Nandini during this comprehensive inspection. Pramod Kumar, executive engineer of the rural drinking water and sanitation department, was present throughout. Assistant executive engineers Ganesh Hegde from Mandya subdivision, Madhusudhan from Maddur subdivision, and Rangaswamy from Malavalli subdivision also participated in the inspection activities.
