In a significant move to ensure seamless execution of the upcoming Digital Census-2027, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta convened a high-level meeting with senior civic officials. The gathering took place at the MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, focusing on advance ground-level preparations for this nationwide exercise.

Key Officials Present and Strategic Directives

The meeting saw the participation of several key officials, including MC joint commissioner and nodal officer for the census, Vineet Kumar. Zonal commissioners and charge officers such as Amanpreet Singh, Neeraj Jain, Gurpal Singh, Jasdev Sekhon, MTP Vijay Kumar, and superintendent Tarun Goyal were also in attendance. Commissioner Gupta emphasized the critical nature of the census, directing officers in-charge and concerned personnel to actively monitor the situation and ensure no laxity is tolerated during the process.

During detailed deliberations, officials were instructed to maintain strict vigilance and efficiency, with Gupta urging public cooperation to facilitate a smooth administration of the census. The first phase, involving house listing and housing, is scheduled to commence on May 15, during which enumerators will engage residents with a comprehensive field survey.

Comprehensive Questionnaire Details Released

The Union ministry has released a detailed set of 33 questions that will be posed to residents. These inquiries cover a wide range of demographic and infrastructural aspects, designed to gather accurate data for national planning. Key areas include:

  • Building and census house identification numbers
  • Construction materials used for floors, walls, and roofs
  • Usage and condition of census houses
  • Household composition, including total residents and head of household details
  • Ownership status and dwelling room counts
  • Number of married couples residing in the household

Further questions delve into essential amenities and lifestyle factors, such as:

  1. Main source of drinking water and its availability
  2. Lighting sources and access to latrines with specific types
  3. Waste water outlets and bathing facilities
  4. Kitchen availability and LPG/PNG connections
  5. Fuel used for cooking and possession of electronic devices like radios, televisions, and internet access
  6. Ownership of vehicles including bicycles, scooters, and cars
  7. Main cereal consumption and mobile numbers for census-related communications only

This extensive data collection aims to provide a holistic view of household conditions across Ludhiana, supporting future developmental initiatives. The MC's proactive approach underscores the importance of this digital census in shaping policy and resource allocation.
