Residents Allege Unauthorized Changes to Mobile Numbers in LMC Tax Records
Several residents of Lucknow have reported that mobile numbers linked to their house tax records in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) are being altered without their knowledge, causing disruptions in online payments and notifications. The affected individuals claim they are not receiving OTPs (one-time passwords) or payment alerts, forcing them to visit zonal offices to rectify the issue.
Specific Incidents Reported
Himanshi Singh, a resident of New Haiderganj-III (Zone-6), stated that her registered mobile number was changed without her consent, and she subsequently did not receive payment alerts. “I regularly pay tax online, but this time no alert or OTP came. At the zonal office, I found another number linked to my property,” she said.
Similarly, Ram Sanehi Devi of Rastogi Nagar, Balaganj, faced identical problems. Family members said that alerts stopped coming this year, despite their number being updated earlier. “After checking records, we found the phone number was changed,” a family member reported.
In Aliganj, Rajeev Saxena of Sector-B said he could not log in to the online portal as OTPs were sent to an unknown number. “I had to visit the office to get it restored,” he explained.
Sunita Verma of Jankipuram Extension also reported not receiving reminders despite making regular payments. “Later, I found another number reflecting on my account,” she said.
Official Response
Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar addressed the concerns, stating: “If anyone is facing such issues, they must contact us. I will examine and take action if there are any errors on behalf of LMC staff.” He assured that the matter would be investigated and appropriate measures taken to prevent future occurrences.
Residents are advised to verify their registered mobile numbers and report any discrepancies to the LMC zonal offices immediately.
