KIIT: 54 Faculty in World’s Top 5% Scientists in SciRank 2025

KIIT Deemed to be University in Bhubaneswar has announced that 54 of its faculty members have been ranked among the world’s top 5% scientists in the SciRank Global Index 2025. This recognition, conferred by the SciRank Global Registry, is based on a comprehensive bibliometric assessment of scientific output and impact. The 2025 edition evaluated over 10 million active researcher profiles and nearly 50 million scholarly publications worldwide.

SciRank Assessment Criteria

According to the index, scientists placed in the top 5% category have demonstrated greater research productivity and impact than 95% of their global peers. The assessment uses multiple indicators including citation counts, h-index, and publication quality.

Impact on KIIT’s Global Standing

KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta stated that the inclusion of 54 faculty members in the prestigious registry will enhance KIIT’s international visibility and open up new opportunities for research collaborations, innovation projects, and student mentorship programmes.

DAV Pokhariput Celebrates International Yoga Day

DAV Public School, Pokhariput, celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day on Sunday, highlighting the importance of yoga for physical well-being and mental balance. Bipin Kumar Sahu, regional officer of DAV Odisha Zone-F and chairman of the school, emphasized yoga’s role in leading a successful and healthy life. Drawing lessons from the Bhagavad Gita and inspiring anecdotes, he explained the benefits of yoga and encouraged students to adopt it as a way of life. Instructor Smita Das delivered a motivational talk on yoga’s significance and demonstrated simple techniques and guidelines for practicing yoga and pranayama. The school’s yoga teacher, Rajalakshmi Tripathy, led students and staff in various yogasanas and breathing exercises. Competitions such as yogasana demonstrations and poster-making were also organized.

FM University Marks International Horseshoe Crab Day

Fakir Mohan (FM) University observed International Horseshoe Crab Day 2026 on Saturday, bringing together scientists, conservationists, government officials, students, and NGOs to highlight the need for stronger protection of one of the world’s oldest surviving marine species. The programme was jointly organized by the Centre for Research and Conservation of Indian Horseshoe Crabs, FM University, along with the forest and science and technology departments, in collaboration with partners of the Odisha Marine Biotechnology Research and Innovation Corridor project. Experts stressed the importance of habitat protection, scientific monitoring, and community participation to safeguard horseshoe crab populations. Scientists from IISER Kolkata, Zoological Survey of India, and National Institute of Oceanography shared research findings and conservation strategies. The event also featured student competitions, a conservation poster release, and discussions on coastal biodiversity protection.
