Reliance Jio has announced the Jio Call Agent, a free native AI voice assistant for 5G users, set to launch later this year. The AI assistant will be deeply integrated into Jio’s 5G network, eliminating the need for manual installation as a separate app.
Key features and availability
The Jio Call Agent will be available at no extra cost to over 50 crore Jio 5G subscribers. Users can interact with the AI agent in all native Indian languages and summon it by saying 'Hey Jio' during calls. The AI can transcribe calls in real time, identify up to 10 speakers, generate summaries, and create action items for sharing.
Smart task automation
With user consent, the AI can perform tasks such as booking cabs, ordering food, reserving restaurant tables, and performing self-KYC for e-SIM activation. This integration aims to streamline daily activities directly through voice commands during calls.
Network enhancements
Alongside the AI assistant, Jio also highlighted its AirFiber service, which offers download speeds up to 5 Gigabit and upload speeds up to 1 Gigabit. These capabilities support the seamless operation of the Jio Call Agent and other data-intensive applications.
According to Reliance Jio, the Jio Call Agent represents a significant step in leveraging AI to enhance user experience, making advanced voice assistance accessible to millions without additional charges.
